Architecture school graduate/Junior Designer w/ 1-5 years experience.

Boschen Design is a 5-person Architecture firm primarily engaged in residential renovation work in NYC, with a smattering of commercial work and work outside New York. We do all phases of design work: Schematics, Design development, Codes & filings, Coop/Condo approvals, Contract documents, Bidding & Construction. We’re looking for a Junior Architect who is interested in working at our scale and on all phases of projects that may sometimes last only a few months, more typically a year, and occasionally two years.
You’ll need to enjoy working on a number of projects at once, since we seldom get the luxury of focusing exclusively on one project. Typically we work in teams of two, with a junior person (that’s you, for now at least) working with a more senior person. You’ll be at the meetings, and will probably run some of them as time goes on. We don’t have a signature design style, for a few reasons: 1) it’s boring doing the same thing over & over; 2) different circumstances suggest different solutions, and; 3) we generally work directly with the people who will be living in our designs, so generic solutions aren’t appropriate, and; 4) we flatter ourselves that we’re talented enough to do a number of things well.
Qualifications and Skills:

* BA of Architecture required. 3-5 years experience at an architecture or design firm preferred.

* Working knowledge of ArchiCAD preferred. Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
